Elma Snipes, 90, of Halifax, died Tuesday, November 08, 2011, at Guardian Care in Roanoke Rapids.

Elma was a native of Nash County, born January 21, 1921 to the late Joshua Daniel Snipes and Betty Mabell Holland Snipes. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother, Eunice Snipes, her brothers, Allen H. Snipes and Worth Daniel Snipes, her sister, Lola Mae Snipes Armstrong, and her nephew, Robert L. Armstrong.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and former member of Dortches Baptist Church.

Elma is survived by her niece, Jean A. Haskins, of the home; and her nephews, William Daniel Armstrong of Wilmington, and Steven Snipes of Rocky Mount, NC.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Weldon with Rev. Steve Formo officiating.
